DEEP NAVY - 10
≈ 170 × 110 cm
Four çömçalı, each in a different color, float on a warm khaki ground — blue, rose, terracotta, navy — stacked one above the other like a conversation between seasons. Around them, a deep burgundy frame bristling with ram's horns. And beyond that, a vast navy border where small figures repeat endlessly, watching from every side.
This kilim has authority.
Handcrafted in Balıkesir (Turkey)
Antique — late 19th to early 20th century, woven at the height of Anatolian tribal tradition
Naturally dyed in deep indigo blue and rich burgundy — colors that have only deepened with time
Warm undyed khaki ground — natural wool at its most honest
Vibrant synthetic dyes in dusty rose, lavender and terracotta — early 20th century Anatolian weaving at its most expressive
One of a kind — never repeated, never mass-produced
High-quality wool, built to last generations
A piece of rare authority, ready to find its next home.
Dominating motif: Çömçalı (Ladle/White Goose) — four large forms stacked vertically on a central khaki ground, each in a different color. Body curved like an S, wings spread wide — one of the most ancient motifs in Anatolian weaving, linking the kilim tradition to Central Asian shamanic imagery. Framed by koçboynuzu ram's horns and a dense navy border of repeating figures — a composition that feels both ceremonial and alive.
