SAFRAN - 10
≈ 202 × 137 cm
Warm stripes rolling across the field like a landscape seen from above — terracotta, burgundy, indigo, cream — interrupted at intervals by cicim bands where hooked forms dance and zigzag, never quite settling into stillness.
This kilim doesn't sit quietly in a room. It warms it.
Handcrafted in Balıkesir (Turkey)
Antique — late 19th to early 20th century, woven when stripe and cicim traditions were still alive and practiced
Naturally dyed in deep indigo and rich burgundy — colors that have deepened with age
Vibrant synthetic dyes in terracotta and burnt orange — early 20th century Anatolian weaving at its most expressive
Woven in the rare cicim technique — additional weft threads floating above the surface, creating decorated bands with texture and depth
One of a kind — never repeated, never mass-produced
Fine, densely woven wool — built to outlast everythingA piece of living warmth, ready to find its next home.
Dominating motif: Çengel (Hook) — rows of hooked forms running through cicim bands, each one interlocking with the next in a continuous chain of motion. One of the oldest protective symbols in Anatolian weaving, woven here with a confidence that only comes with tradition.
